Explore Our Memberships

Avara is being built slowly, intentionally, and with very little between us and the land.

Membership is an invitation to be part of that — not as a donor, not as a customer, but as someone who genuinely belongs to what is growing here.

Our Memberships

Every member directly supports the regeneration of land, the growth of food systems, and the building of a training centre that will bring practical agroforestry knowledge to communities across the Kavango region. The further along we get, the further that impact reaches. There are three ways to be part of Avara. Choose the one that feels right.

Feature Highlights

The Avara Newsletter.
Available to all members

Once a month, a private update lands in your inbox — written by Loree and Hanjo from the land.
Not a polished marketing email, but a real account of what is happening at Avara: what has been planted, what has been learned, what the season looks like, and what we are thinking about. The kind of honest, behind-the-scenes update that doesn't go on social media.

Members also get access to the full newsletter archive on the private Avara member page — so you can follow the story from wherever you join.

Monthly Community Calls.
For Root and Forest members

Once a month we host a Community Call with our Root and Forest members. Each call has a loose structure — a seasonal update from the land, a topic or theme drawn from what we are working on, and an open Q&A where you can ask us anything directly.

It is informal, honest, and grounded in what is actually happening here. No presentations, no polish — just a real conversation between people who care about the same things.

The Founding Forest.
For Forest members

A dedicated section of the Avara food forest, planted and tended over time, where every tree belongs to a person who believed in this project before it was finished.

As a Forest member, a tree is planted at Avara in your name and added to the Founding Forest. You receive a photograph when it goes in the ground, and an illustrated map showing exactly where it stands within the forest. As the years pass and the forest grows, your tree grows with it — producing food, building soil, and contributing to the regeneration of this land long after you first joined.

The Founding Forest is also how we honour the people who supported Avara through our original Plant a Tree campaign. If that was you, you are already part of this.

The End of Year Package.
For Forest members

Every December, a package leaves Avara and makes its way to you.

Inside: a handmade review of the year at Avara — the milestones, the challenges, the lessons — illustrated with photographs and stories from the land. Alongside it, a small selection of any homemade products made at Avara that year if we have some to offer: pressed oils, preserves, dried herbs, and whatever the land and season have given us to share.

It is the most personal thing we make. It is made slowly, with care, and sent with genuine gratitude to the people who have made this possible.

Avara is a small, hands-on project and we want membership to feel straightforward and human. If something is not covered below or you would like to talk it through before joining, get in touch — we are happy to help.

Still have questions? We would love to hear from you.
